A Modified Optimal Velocity Model for Vehicle Following
This paper presents a modified optimal velocity model (MOVM) for vehicle following. It makes use of time to collision (TTC) in order to reduce the reference speed when relative speed against the leading vehicle is negative. Simulation results have shown an anticipation behavior which leads to smoother maneuvers. The driver risk perception of rear-end collision is also enhanced. Copyright c ©200...
متن کاملinvestigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures
deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...
Design of a Model Reference Adaptive Controller Using Modified MIT Rule for a Second Order System
Sometimes conventional feedback controllers may not perform well online because of the variation in process dynamics due to nonlinear actuators, changes in environmental conditions and variation in the character of the disturbances. To overcome the above problem, this paper deals with the designing of a controller for a second order system with Model Reference Adaptive Control (MRAC) scheme usi...
متن کاملModified Optimal Velocity Model: Stability Analyses and Design Guidelines
Reaction delays are important in determining the qualitative dynamical properties of a platoon of vehicles traveling on a straight road. In this paper, we investigate the impact of delayed feedback on the dynamics of the Modified Optimal Velocity Model (MOVM). Specifically, we analyze the MOVM in three regimes – no delay, small delay and arbitrary delay. In the absence of reaction delays, we sh...
متن کاملA modified optimal stomatal conductance model under water-stressed condition
Accurate estimation of leaf stomatal conductance (gs) is important in predicting carbon andwater cycles of terrestrial ecosystem. To estimate gs on field-grown soybean and maize underwater-stressed condition accurately, a modified optimal stomatal conductance (OSCM) modelwas established based on the relationship between marginal water cost of carbon gain and soilwater content by introducing a w...
